I posted an Instagram video to our Wordpress blog at http://www.spswoodturners.org/good-reminder. The video appeared on the screen but would not start/play when clicked in the Brave browser. I went to the original post in Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/p/BUuV7YUAGSk/ to determine if response was the same and the video did not play on Instagram either in the Brave browser. I also verified that the video would play from our wordpress blog on Chrome.

Forgot to include, YouTube videos do play correctly in the Brave Browser.
I can play the video from https://www.instagram.com/p/BUuV7YUAGSk/. Do you have autoplay disabled on Instagram by any chance? Also what happens if you click on the video a second time?
I cannot find an option for autoplay. Searched in the support center, no results for auto play or autoplay.
First click looks like this. Does not play:
Second click the start arrow appears over the top of the video.
Auto play setting is in preferences under security I can easily play the video from the link you have given
Do you by any chance have “strict site isolation” enabled in preferences? That is known to break embedded videos.
For some other sites with embedded video (like HBO or Netflix, etc.), you may need to enable Google Widevine in preferences for DRM
