Importing Bookmarks and Settings From Chrome

Description of the issue:
Brave browser crashes every time I try to import bookmarks and settings from chrome.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Click menu button on upper right of Brave.
  2. Go to and hover over Bookmarks and lists.
  3. Go over to Bookmarks and lists menu.
  4. Go down to Import Bookmarks and Settings.
  5. Click on Import Bookmarks and Settings.
  6. Bookmarks and Settings Pop Up Window Appears
  7. Select Google Chrome Person 1
  8. All Boxes are checked: Browsing History, Favorites/Bookmarks, Saved Passwords, Extensions and Payment Methods.
  9. Click Import Button.
  10. Brave crashes and closes.

Expected result:
Brave Importer to import all the data.

Reproduces how often:
Every Time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 Home, 64 Bit
Brave Version: 1.70.123 Chromium: 129.0.6668.89 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I was able to import all bookmark and settings from Internet Explorer. I tried unchecking some boxes (Browsing History and Extensions) when attempting to import Chrome and it still crashes.

Good report. I suggest that you EXPORT the bookmarks from Google Chrome - that will produce a “bookmarks.html” file that you could then IMPORT into Brave Browser.
