Images do not render in Google Hangouts

Description of the issue:
Images sent in converstations in hangouts do not render. Example below:

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install the Google hangouts extension
  2. Login and have someone send an image in hangouts

Expected result:
Images should render

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.30.89 Chromium: 94.0.4606.81 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

  • Windows 10, latest release and patches.
  • Hangouts renders images on this machine using Windows Edge browser.
