I uninstalled and reinstalled the brave engine and it wiped out all my bookmarks. Can I get them back or have I lost them forever?

I’m sorry but I have no clue what you mean by saying what platform am I on. I have an Android and I have Google and Chrome and my phone service is through T-Mobile. And if that isn’t what you mean I’m sorry but I have no idea. Thanks Diane

Sorry for the delay here.
Brave doesn’t keep your data on your Android device after you uninstall it. However, I highly recommend that you take a look at Brave Sync (https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/sections/360003252831-Sync-basics), as besides syncing your data among your devices, it can also help you achieve what you want — i.e. restore previously synced data after an install.
