I need Brave tabs to work like they used to, I can't even read the text in the sidebar

Description of the issue: I can’t revert to tabs at the top of my screen instead of the sidebar.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):I have gone through all the steps stated on the site. I typed the URL in and disabled the sidebar, I rebooted and it’s still there.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):I wanted to include a screen shot but i don’t see an option.

Expected result:I want to get the tabs back the way they were and have always been.

Reproduces how often:Always.

Operating System and Brave Version: Version 1.74.50 Chromium: 132.0.6834.111 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Mac OS Ventura 13.7.1

Additional Information:I simply want brave back the way it was. Tabs have been at the top since Netscape existed and it’s unfair to just change things without warning and not give an easy option to turn it off. Hopefully I posted this right this time, I was fairly descriptive in the last post, I don’t understand what was wrong with it.

  1. Search for “vertical” in the settings page: brave://settings/?search=vertical
  2. Toggle the Use vertical tabs setting

We did not. Vertical tabs, while made available, are not turned on by default. They have to be enabled by the user. You may have done this on accident via the Settings page that @Mythical5th describes above, or you can do this by right-clicking on a tab and selecting Use vertical tabs

use vertical tabs is checked and they are still in the sidebar instead of the top of my screen. I went through all the steps, did the URL thing, disabled the sidebar. Then I pressed ctrl + B as someone suggested and that didn’t work

Here is a screen shot of what it looks like:

use vertical is checked as you can see.

And no, I never enabled it, I updated brave and now I’m stuck with this mess

That’s the problem. You’re here complaining about vertical tabs. Turn it off.

OK I was just being dyslexic or something, please delete this thread
