On January 31, 2024, or in early February 2024, I downloaded the version of Brave that was the latest default downloadable version at that time in France.
In the search engine, I had imported a list of bookmarks (favorites) from a previous Google account. For about a year and 40 days of active use of Brave as my default browser, I carried out a significant task of organizing favorite web pages. I considered this work extremely valuable—more valuable even than the organization and storage of files on my PC desktop—because these well-organized Google pages were essential tools for work, research, study, and leisure, rich and highly diverse.
Unfortunately, less than a week ago, my PC (HP VICTUS - Windows 11) encountered a problem, and I had to reset it.
Today, I reinstalled all the software I was using before the reset, and when I logged back into BRAVE, I was hoping to find all my bookmarks (favorites), but nothing remained. I made sure to reconnect all my Google accounts to Brave and my smartphone, to make sure the browser had every opportunity to retrieve my previous bookmarks (favorites)—but still, they did not reappear.
I searched for ways to restore them but couldn’t find a solution. I saw that I wasn’t the first user in France to experience this problem, but unfortunately, no one seems to have helped the users reporting similar issues. I learned today that it may have been possible to export my Brave bookmarks (favorites) from my PC to the Brave browser on my Android phone (is that correct?), and that I could have solved this issue today by importing them back from my phone to my PC. But I never did that, so I never had the chance to have the bookmarks (favorites) created on my PC available on my phone.
- Do you have a solution? Could my bookmarks (favorites) be recovered via my phone number, my PC ID, or my email addresses?
- Is my work permanently lost?
- How can I ensure that bookmarks (favorites) created in the future are always backed up, no matter what happens?
- Doesn’t Brave offer this kind of functionality, like Google does?
- When bookmarks (favorites) are created in Brave, can they not be automatically synced to a Google account?
Thank you for any help you can provide. I sincerely ask you to do everything possible to ensure that my life isn’t temporarily disrupted by the loss of this massive organization of shortcuts to web research that is, these precious bookmarks (favorites).
