I got charged for the annual VPN, but now i can't use it?

Hi, all, i was just wanting to ask about something that happened this morning. Essentially i signed up for the 7 day free trial recently, and while on a family trip i couldn’t connect to any network to cancel it so i got charged with the full £97.99. I searched up how to refund it to no success, and proceeded to cancel the subscription through google play the morning after (now) i got charged in order to avoid any future charges. However since i had already paid for it i tried to make use of it through the brave browser, but now it’s telling me that i don’t have a subscription even after clicking on refresh credentials.
