Holiday Greetings!

Still very frustrated from being unable to install the latest 64-bit version. Last June, I was able to install successfully and enjoyed Brave tremendously. Upgrading to Windows 10 seemed to be the culprit as Brave stopped working shortly after. Please make the install easier for former Windows 8 systems that were coerced by Microsoft to go Windows 10. The 32-bit version would not work either as I learned after trying to install Brave in my Linux system. It does not console me that a Linux version is available but ONLY for 64-bit systems.

BTW, I followed your suggestion regarding : “browse to %userprofile%\appdata\Local, you’ll see the “brave” folder. Please move this out of the way (maybe you can just rename it as brave-old)” with no luck either.

Hi there,

We just released a new version of the browser today- would you be able to try installing it again? If it doesn’t work, I’d like to share some steps we can try :slight_smile:

  1. We can start off by trying to set compatibility mode. You should be able to right clicking the shortcut for Brave , picking properties, and then trying some of the options under compatibility mode

  2. If #1 doesn’t work, we can always try a more extreme option, we can try moving the executables out of the way and trying the install again

If you open a window and browse to %userprofile%\appdata\Local, you’ll see the “brave” folder. Please move this out of the way (maybe you can just rename it as brave-old). This folder doesn’t have any of your preferences or bookmarks (those are stored in %appdata%\brave). After this, you can try the install again

Hello,

My Brave browser suddenly crashed and would no longer execute correctly. The latest download does not fare well either.

My system has an 64-bit AMD A8 processor and I tried to reinstall using the ltest 64-bit version of Brave downloaded from your site. Brave had no problem installing in my system in the past. In fact, I enjoyed using Brave so much. Hopefully you can lend advice to get it back and running.

The particular thread from https://community.brave.com/t/unable-to-install-on-desktop/137/7 served as my guide in attempting to resolve the problem. This is in addition to your initial suggested tweaks as well as trying to invoke Compatibility Mode. So far, Brave would still fail to install.

The results of your suggested fixes were screen captured and attached for your team’s further consideration. This includes running “winver” to determine my OS Build as well as “dxdiag” for insight into my machine’s graphics card and software. Please look into them, thanks.

Hi, I have a similar problem in that my Brave Browser (which I loved) suddenly stopped launching properly (probably update related). I’ve deleted the program, downloaded the latest version and installed it, yet it still fails to launch properly. (This routine has been done numerous times). In fact, two blank windows load when launched and both have this in the browser window:

file:///C:/Users/Myname/AppData/Local/brave/app-0.12.15/Brave.exe

Then the download folder opens immediately . . . pretty weird. I have even tried reinstalling from that same download folder that pops up - of course, to no avail . . .

Any help you can provide would be appreciated. And would you please respond to my email as well? I’m not sure how to find your response in the support issues.

Hi, I think I’m having similar issues with installation but I can only save the .exe file. Windows 8.1 (build 9600) just bring up an error saying “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.” When I read that, I thought I might have downloaded the wrong one, so I got both and both gave the issues. (x64)

Any fix for this? I’m using PaleMoon right now but use Brave at work so I know I love it.
