I’ve got a new phone, I’ve upgraded from Pixel 5 to Pixel 7. I’ve been earning rewards with my old phone and it was verified with Gemini. I can’t find a way to transfer my rewards and account to my new phone before I wipe my old phone. Sync didn’t appear to do anything.
Both have the most recent android version 13 and Brave version 1.45.133
Currently verified with Gemini although I appear unable to log into Gemini on my new phone.
I verified on my old phone on 13th April.
Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past? Yes, it works fine on my old phone.
Are you using a VPN? (yes/no) No on either phone.
Are you eligible for Brave Rewards (see here for list of supported regions)? I am on my old phone, so yes.
Are you on the list of supported regions when verifying Brave Rewards with a custodial partner (see here for list of supported regions)? I am on my old phone, so yes.
Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)????
Have you manually turned off Auto-contribute on all of your devices linked to a custodial partner? Not sure.
@Salubrius unfortunately, this won’t be possible for you. If we assume you’re connected with your “old” device, then all your BAT would be saved to Gemini. So none of those earnings will be lost. However, you won’t be able to link a new device to Gemini until Brave opens up support to your region again. For now, though, new connections are not permitted unless you’re in the United States.
And yes, even though you’ve linked to Gemini before, it’s classified as a new connection because it would be a new device & wallet payment ID.
IF you’re in the United States and able to connect the new device to Gemini, then you should have all your Rewards there and payments will continue to your Gemini account.
Am I safe to assume you’re outside of the USA and have been getting the Region Not Supported message?
Yes I’m in the UK. Thank you for your prompt response! That’s very annoying news, I guess I’ll have to create a new account on my new phone and use the other verify method.
I’ve never looked into retrieving or transferring my BAT to something like my coinbase or metamask wallet, I’m assuming this must be possible though.
Any suggestions as to the best way to do it? I really need to wipe my old phone as I’m giving it to a friend. Thanks.
No, it’s not an option at this time. The only three custodial options are Uphold, Gemini, and BitFlyer. That said, BitFlyer is for Japan only at this time, meaning we’re kind of limited to Uphold or Gemini for most of the world.
Based on what you said, old phone is paying to your Gemini, right? So you’d be safe to wipe that. You could Sync all your bookmarks, passwords, etc before then and then completely wipe the old phone. You wouldn’t really lose anything. Your only issue will come to the idea that your new phone won’t be able to link to Gemini at this time.
Oh, and if you’re talking about removing things out of Gemini, you could then send that balance anywhere you want, assuming you pay the gas & transaction fees or whatever.
I’m not sure how much longer it will be before they start to open Gemini up for linking again. They’ve long been planning to try to have most countries added back by the end of the year. But not sure how they are looking on accomplishing that.
