How to import bookmarks on Android?

Description of the issue: I cannot import the bookmarks from Brave PC to Brave Android

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!): I tried export feature and copied the same in my phone. When I tap to open the file a list comes with all the bookmark links but the bookmarks do not get added in Brave Android.

Expected result: Bookmarks should have been imported to Android

Reproduces how often:

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): Android Pie, Brave 1.4.2

Additional Information: I can of course do it manually but I have many bookmarks which will take too much time.

@Sabal,
Thanks for reaching out. There’s no way at this time to import bookmarks in that way – however, you can use Brave Sync to sync bookmarks across devices.

Hi,

I tried the Sync feature. It worked great. All my bookmarks are perfectly synced. I didn’t know this feature existed.

Thank you.
Much appreciated.

So, is Sync the only available method to import bookmarks to Android - meaning I must install Brave on a PC, import bookmarks, and then Sync?

Brave sync only seems to work in the US. I live in Australia. Sync can never find my devices whether laptop or Android phone. Chrome sync works perfectly.

I use Brave Browser because it is faster. That is only because websites are not refreshed: you get the old site you loaded yesterday. Don’t be fooled guys.

I tried sync many time s. It doesn’t seen to work . Maybe 20% get synced if that. That’s why in need to import. May be a deal breaker for me.

How can you keep your users when such basic features don’t work? Importing bookmarks not available and sync is not working. There’s absolutely no way to sync on PC! Every few months I install Brave again, 5 minutes later I have to uninstall because basic chromium features are either absent or broken…

June 2020 now and after years it would seem they still won’t fix this issue! Not one other browser has no import function, so why do you STILL not have it?
Waste of time I’ll just go back to chrome…

Sync is anti-privacy.
I don’t want my data on someone else’s machine:
Not googles, not mozillas, not yours.
Why do you want my data?

@mdwaroff,
Brave doesn’t want your data and Sync v2 is designed to preserve privacy and anonymity. Sync v2 enforces client-side encryption – keeping your data safe from any wandering eyes. Even Brave cannot see this data. More detailed information here:

Encryption can be broken.

Sync takes it out of my possession.

That’s the point.

You are not listening.
I won’t put my data on your server at all.
Encryption can be broken.
Therefore, sync is useless to me.

Thanks for all your efforts.

July 2021, Android: I’m trying to import a bookmarks file which I exported from Kiwi Browser so I can migrate to Brave. Is there a way to do this yet? If not, it’s too time consuming to do it one bookmark at a time manually and I’ll try Brave again in the future.
