Description of the issue:
When I click on the submit button of a mailto:
form, nothing happens.
There is no way to configure how Brave should handle this protocol.
Note that I’m not using an email client; I’m using Gmail, but the point is moot until there’s a way to configure that anyway.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Open a page with a
mailto:
form (for ex. https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_form_mail) - Fill in the data (optional in the example URL above)
- Click on the submit button (
Send
in the example above)
Expected result:
- If the browser isn’t configured: the browser asks the user what to do, or at least, the browser should have a configuration for
mailto:
- if the browser is configured: act accordingly
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
v1.73.89
Additional Information:
OS: Windows 10 x64
In Windows, my default app for Email
is Brave.
I searched for a while, both in the settings - there are none related to mail handlers - and on the Internet.
I found a few deprecated posts mentioning a brave://settings/handlers
, but
-
there is no apparent way to get to this configuration page from the menus (why is it hidden?)
-
this configuration page doesn’t let the user add a new handler. Here is a screenshot:
So I deduce that this feature isn’t working correctly (or has it been removed?).
