How to add a bookmark to your Home screen WITHOUT installing a web app

If you want a shortcut on your Home screen WITHOUT installing any web app:

Facebook site (not the app) is a good example; if you open it in your Android browser and then open the kebab menu/Add to Home Screen it wants to install a web app which sucks memory and cache, instead of just putting a simple bookmark that opens normally. This worked for me:

  1. Go to the url you want in the Brave browser
  2. Turn on airplane mode so there’s no internet
  3. Reload the page to make sure the “No Internet” message appears
  4. Open kebab menu and select “Add to home screen”

I remember this question during many years… I could not do shortcut myself, so I decided to try your solutuion, but before going to airplane just tested ‘add to Home Screen’ and actually it shows 2 options now to install a webapp or make a shortcut. Thanks to Brave team!

ROFL. The shortcut still leads to the startpage, so while they did an option, you can not shortcut website.com/folder/
