How did Brave update itself when updates are turned off?

I am unable to add other search engines to the list but I was able to. For some softwre reason, I have disabled all automatic updates inluding Brave’s. Nevertheless, Brave managed to change the browser setting to prevent adding new item into the list of search engines. How did this intrusion happened? I believe most if not all users want to see the same thing, same settings, everything in the same place when we prevent automatic updates. BRAVE was my go to browser but it is becoming like those search engines I have stopped using.

Is there anyway at all for my computer to be respected as my place, and let nothing be moved or changed unless I am fully aware. This is as unacceptable as how you would let your furniture, money, and work be found in a different place in the morning, without expecting it.

No official way to turn off automatic updates, at least not through traditional settings. So anything you would do to try to stop that would be on your own. Whether you disabled things properly or made any mistakes is a question only you would have the answer to.

Brave has done no such thing at all. We can add and edit search engines. Brave never takes this ability away from us. The assumption here is either you don’t know what you’re doing -or- someone with access to your device has modified things to prohibit you from making changes…such as through group policy.
