Alright. I was going to a news site and was instantly redirected to the address in the pic. The site was theblaze.com where this issue was never a problem.
I went from Startpage results to theblaze and got the bad link.
From quick research, that site is a form of malware download to a PC. It then infects the browser. Commonly associated with Chrome.
Here’s the rub; the malware isn’t on my PC and a common symptom of the program (homepage changed) isn’t in Brave.
I use several layers of protection and all failed to catch that address.
Layers of protection on my PC are;
Latest Brave with Shields on. Even scripts had been turned on for this.
Private Internet Access with their anti malware filter on plus their built in network firewall.
The latest Bitdefender firewall and antivirus updating every hour.
None of that stopped the address.
Immediately after the address popped up I took the pic and closed Brave. Then I ran the latest version of Super Anti Malware with no threat resulting. Then I ran Bitdefender scans and got nothing. Finally I ran the latest Malwarebytes and the common files associated with the infection are not listed.
Is this just some fluke?
