there are many possibilities. basically anything that could look like an attempt at abusing the system. vpn use is a common one, but brave is pretty tight lipped on the exact reasons for security purposes.
I was flagged for 3 months myself, but got it sorted out eventually.
@Covop3 Just to clarify, VPN itself has never been the reason to be flagged. It was the one extra step of “using VPN to appear in a region you’re not” that caused the problem. Brave VPN tends to try to match you with nodes in your area. That said, if you appear outside of your region while using Brave VPN, there’s still a chance it could get you flagged.
Keep in mind the reason for this is because they are charging advertisers with the guarantee their ads are being delivered to only people in particular regions and who are using certain operating systems. So when spoofing IP address to appear elsewhere, you get ads you shouldn’t have received. This does wrong by Brave and the advertisers.
That said, I know they mentioned a while back about considering option of locking things into our region, similar to how we have to choose our country for rewards now. But at this point, they still deliver ads based on our IP address. We’ll have to wait and see if other changes ever come about.
Ty. I am just asking because i use brave vpn. Appreciate the feedback. Not sure why people try silly things but the normal people seem to suffer as a result. I did notice the vpn does interfere with ads at times. But i only need it for when i see my browser slowing down. I use it to stop attacks on my phone. It seems to speed up my phone if i leave it on for a bit then shut it off.
It’s in the little region drop down. Like you see in the picture below, it’s set to USA (East) for me, because I’m in the USA and east coast.
But if you clicked on the country thing there, it will do a drop down with countries to choose from. I must say I’m shocked at how few countries they have listed there overall, but at least it’s many of the larger ones I guess.
