Brave hangs (some sort of javascript loop?) when logging in to the Halifax.co.uk online banking website. The problem is on the ‘memorable information’ page after passing the username / password section. About 20 seconds after loading, the page becomes unresponsive, eventually prompting the user to ‘wait or close’. Halifax is basically the 2nd biggest bank in the UK - you want to make sure users are not having difficulty with this site. On Chrome there is no problem.
I’m on a Windows PC. 24GB RAM, 4810MQ processor. Windows 8 Pro. Everything up to date.
Extensions enabled are: Google Translate, Unpaywall, DarkReader.
Going incognito does not solve the problem.
Try adjusting shields, 1st by allowing all cookies. If it doesn’t work, disable all of shields. If it doesn’t work by then the site’s broken for brave and report the site with shields…
It’s actually very confusing to test this because the memorable info page is on a different domain with different shield settings. It’s difficult to set these consistently… I thought ads and trackers were causing the problem but now I’m not sure. I’m really struggling to figure out what’s actually causing the problem.
OK I’m pretty certain it’s the fingerprinting shield which is to blame. Toggling this on and off on the memorable info page alternately broke / fixed the page. Also I’ve disabled this shield ONLY on both domains and the thing seems to work okay. FYI the two domains used are:
