Google used in my search results when google is disabled

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:

I am running iOS version 18.5 on my phone and it is the public release version. Brave is used as my default browser and for both public and private tabs. I have Google disabled as well as in my settings. I only have DuckDuckGo selected as my search engine yet when I do search results from Siri, it comes up with a Google page by default.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. I have only selected DuckDuckGo as my engine
  2. Confirmed all others are unchecked

Expected result:

Should come up with results from my query under DuckDuckGo not google

Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.77 (99)

Mobile Device details
iOS 18.5 stable

Additional Information:

@Bookusher

Safari Settings > Set DuckDuckGo as the default search engine.

Test your issue.

Can you give detailed instructions on what steps you’re taking?

I just was trying to replicate what you’re saying on my iPhone. But I’m just not seeing how to even come close to what your issue is.

If I do a search on Siri usually it shows results in it’s own window and clicking/tapping any links directly to the content.

And if I use the voice search within Brave it goes to whatever default search engine I had set.

I’m not sure if I’m just doing something different or misunderstanding. But if you can give more details it would make it easier to try to figure out and help.

NOTE

Version 1.78 (103) is the current version of Brave for iOS. You may wish to update when you get a chance as they had some good fixes in the last update here for some minor issues

I did this already. It still comes up with Google. I narrowed it down to when I use Siri so I’m just not gonna use Siri and I’ll go directly to the brave browser to type in my search requests

This is what I found on a web search. I don’t use Safari but it still uses Google if I use Siri.
