Google sessions log out every time I close Brave (already tested everything)

Hello,

Every time I close and reopen Brave, my Google sessions (Gmail, YouTube, Drive, etc.) are logged out automatically — even though I have already checked and configured everything correctly.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • “Clear cookies and site data when I close Brave” is DISABLED
  • I added [*.]google.com, [*.]gmail.com, [*.]youtube.com, [*.]drive.google.com as allowed cookies (including third-party)
  • No cleaning extensions (e.g., Cookie AutoDelete, Privacy Badger, etc.)
  • Tried a brand new Brave profile with no sync and no extensions
  • Checked folder permissions in AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data
  • “Controlled folder access” in Windows Defender is DISABLED
  • No antivirus software or CCleaner installed
  • Using SSD with Windows 11 (fully updated)

Despite all that, Google still logs me out every time I close Brave. Other websites keep me signed in just fine — it only happens with Google services.

I suspect this might be a bug in how Brave handles Google session cookies or authentication tokens.

Brave version: 1.77.97
OS: Windows 11 with SSD, no third-party antivirus

Please let me know how to fix this — it’s driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.

@pako12312 known issue I do believe, would be at the Github below. It’s something they have been investigating as random reports come in but haven’t been able to replicate or identify the cause yet. Seems to only be a small subset of people having issues.

If you can’t get Google to stay logged in, I for sure can’t.

I didn’t see “Clear cookies and site data when I close Brave” under Shield settings, only “Forget me when I close this site”

Under “Delete browsing data / On exit” I have nothing checked.

I prefer similar to Firefox where I can add an exception on a few sites I want to stay logged into and always delete everything else on exit.
