Gmail download message "mail.google.com says "Grrr! A pop-up blocker may be preventing the application from opening the page"

In gmail I cannot download message by this method:

• Open an email within google mail/ gmail
• click “…” (“more”) at top-right
• click download message
• I get the notification:
  "mail.google.com says “Grrr! A pop-up blocker may be preventing the application from opening the page. If you have a pop-up blocker, try disabling it to open the window.” "

I have no pop-up blocker extensions ( a testament to Brave browser).
I have “lowered shields” on mail.google.com to no avail.
I have hunted through settings and forums for similar issues.
Please help.

Can you please tell me what Brave version you’re using at this time, as well as whether or not you’re using Windows 10 or 11? I can’t reproduce this on macOS or Win10 systems — messages are downloaded normally with no error messages.
