**Description of the issue:**Getting non video add before youtube video.

**Exact URL of the website in question:**youtube.com

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) this ad is with shield enabled

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? as expected - so even more ads

Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no) no

What OS are you using when you see the ad? windows 10

Brave version (check About Brave):
v 1.76.74

I am having the same issue, but it only occurs on my main Google account.

  • I either need to wait for the length of the ad before the video starts playing, or the skip option will appear like it does in the opā€™s screenshot.

  • Turning shields off and on will sometimes make the ads disapper for a video or two, but the problem is persistant. Iā€™m using the latest version of Brave and updated the ā€˜Brave Ad Block Updaterā€™ component.

  • I donā€™t have any extensions downloaded.

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? Yes, as expected. Ads play as they normally do.

Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no) Nope!

What OS are you using when you see the ad? Windows 11

Brave version (check About Brave): v 1.76.74. Relevant components like ā€˜Brave Ad Block Updaterā€™ are updated as well.

(Editing to add I cleared my cookies and cache as well. Problem persists.)

Same issue! Seems to be tied to main YT account. Am using latest version of Brave and went into Brave://components to make sure everythingā€™s updated. Problem still persists.

Edit: A janky workaround is to right-click on video link then choose ā€˜Open in New Tabā€™.

Thank you for letting us know. We will take a look. In the meantime, can everyone confirm that if they open a Guest profile window (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile), close your original profile window (so only the Guest window is open) and login to your main Youtube account here, do you still see these ads appear?

@MrRobotoToo thank you for checking. Also to confirm, if youā€™re signed out of YT you donā€™t see the ad appear?

Thatā€™s right: it seems to be tied to main YT account. Even just switching to secondary accounts removes the ads.

Just updated the ā€˜Brave Ad Block Updaterā€™ component and the ads are gone! Thank you :folded_hands: :tada:

Can everyone here please try updating the Brave Ad Block Updater component again (even if youā€™ve already) just to check and see if this resolves the issue?

Unfortunately not for me. Could it be that Iā€™m on a pretty old laptop (i5-4310u)? Opening the videos in new tabs still works, though. Very odd :thinking:

@MrRobotoToo (or anyone) can you try clearing cache/site data for Youtube (visit youtube, click the ā€œtuneā€ icon to the left of the URL, then Site settings --> Delete data), log back in and then test again?

Yeah, Youtube has rolled out some new Ads. And weā€™re working with uBO to find a way. Affects all adblockers currently, so not just a Brave issue.

uBO author resolved it, Since Brave uses the same lists, we were affected also.
