Getting logged out of all Google accounts on shutdown

Description of the issue:
Whenever I shut down my machine, Brave logs me out of any Google accounts, meaning that I have to then log back in when I start up again. This is mainly affecting the MacBook I keep at the office for the two days per week I’m there, which is 2019 13" MacBook Pro

This has been happening since I migrated from Chrome a few weeks ago, and it’s starting to feel like a deal-breaker

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Log into Google account (gmail, youtube, whatever)
  2. Shut down computer at the end of the day
  3. Start up computer in the morning
  4. Log into Google account
  5. Lather, rinse, repeat

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
I have to log into any Google accounts again

Expected result:
I’m still logged into my Google accounts

Reproduces how often:
Every time I shut down my computer at the end of the day

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
macos 15.3.1
Brave 1.75.178

@daniel.kilby

You get an A+ for a great report.

Please see:

And if those steps and suggestions do not work, then try:

OK, so the first thing I’ll try is in Settings > Privacy and security > Site and shield settings > View permissions and data stored across sites, for each of the Google sites, set Google sign-in to Allow

@daniel.kilby I’d more be curious to see if you can check in terms of having a second browser profile and if it happens there. From what you’ve shared, it seems like site settings for Shields is good and you don’t seem to have anything for the On Exit to clear.

Generally speaking it would be one of the following then:

  • Extensions

  • Cleaner program (like an Avast Cleaner, CCleaner, or any of a million things that often try to clear data to “speed up” your computer or reduce clutter…sometimes built into antivirus programs)

  • Are you using VPN? If so, that combined with ad blocking may be voiding your cookies. (expiring as appearing like a different device…a protection to make sure hackers aren’t hijacking in)

  • Are you using 2FA on your account? If so, make sure you have your device set to be trusted. Though also have to say, with randomization on Brave with Shields up it may eventually see your same device as a new one. Especially after browser updates.

Also want to clarify, it’s only Google where you’re getting logged out?

I wanted to confirm it over a handful of shutdown-startup cycles, but it seems that the View permissions and data stored across sites setting is what was causing the problem.

Thanks for your help
