Get Rid of Leo Completely

How do I close out of a chat? These chats keep popping up and I don’t know why. I try turning the sidebar off in my settings but it won’t seem to make the instance that’s already open go away, and when I go back into my settings it’s turned on again anyway.

@travisg have you gone into your settings and changed?

And yeah, I saw you mention this. But I’m referencing brave://settings/leo-assistant.

And also want to mention that within that menu, you may also want to click on the Adjust autocomplete suggestions part as it will lead you to menu like below:

As to removing Leo completely, you can’t. But you can disable it in certain areas as directed above. But depending on what shortcuts you use or what you toggle, you’ll be able to activate it again. So just have to be mindful of what you’re doing.

I figured out how to close out of it thank you. I wish it were a little more intuitive how to get rid of the window. I’m not even sure how I made it pop up in the first place.

Yes I did see that, that’s what I tried that, but I guess because the tab was already open it wasn’t having an effect. I eventually figured out that there’s a tiny icon on the far right hand side of the side bar that hides it.

Ah, you were referring more to sidebar and not just Leo. On Windows the command to open and close the sidebar is Ctrl + B. You can change or remove it by going to settings → system → shortcuts and looking for command there.

And when sidebar is open, you can right click Leo and dismiss/hide/remove (I forget term used and I’m responding from my phone, so can’t check) it and anything else on sidebar you don’t like. For example, I got rid of bookmarks from it.

I can see how someone decided to use B for Bar as the shortcut… but everytime I try to bold some text it comes up - and there is no close window.

Obviously I’ve changed the command now - but this was really badly done and enough for me to be frustrated by Brave

Disabling is a scam - whenever I type a request in the searchfield the AI is red/activated and under the request a field pops up with an arrow upwards - use AI — only the results are without AI-snippets but the AI is active all the time and I feed and train this disgusting monster with my search-requests — also when opening private sites with or without TOR the AI is always pre-enabled and collects my actions … only after a first search-request I get the little icon where I can reach the site-settings to deactivate everything - until then my data are sent to AI and Brave although I deactivated everything in my basic settings – Brave talks about privacy but abuses the own users and stealing their data to train this disgusting monster AI !!

If Brave does not take action that users can get rid of unwanted AI - totally rid - we will develope a blocker, kind of adblocker, against any kind of AI - might take a little but we started working on it and several good hackers already joined – and if we dont find a way to block them then we will create a “feeder” feeding the monsters with all kind of crap to destroy them from inside – its time to make an end to this before it can control us !
