Garmin connect (https://connect.garmin.com/) not working in Brave

Description of the issue:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/home causing Brave to hang. User gets “Page Unresponsive” pop-up.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. visit https://connect.garmin.com/modern/home (you might need to have a Garmin account but it’s free to create)
  2. Observe site being completely unresponsive and Brave hanging.
  3. Open same site in Google Chrome, Firefox or MS Edge and see that it works without issues.

Expected result:
Site works and Brave not hanging

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.68.141 Chromium: 127.0.6533.120 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
There was Brave in nonresponsive when opening garmin connect website ticket that was auto-closed without any action.
I don’t understand this support model when tickets are just being closed without any resolution and issue still remaining only because there was no more replies in the thread.
If needed, I can provide logs or any other information that would help you to troubleshoot the problem.
This website is a deal breaker for me so if this will ticket will be auto-closed again I think that I, unfortunately, will have to switch to another browser which is sad because I really liked it.
This issue was present for at least half a year.

First off, these aren’t tickets—they’re topics/posts created on a support forum. There’s a significant difference between that and a ticket system. A support forum is open to both users and Brave staff, whereas a ticket system would send issues directly to Brave support and be handled in the order received. Currently, there’s no ticket system for website compatibility or browser-specific issues. Tickets are only available for Rewards, Creators, or Premium-related issues. Often, other users like myself are the primary source of assistance here. While Brave support agents do participate, they are few in number and try to prioritize issues based on significance.

Topics are automatically closed after 30 days or so because browser updates often occur within that timeframe. The assumption is that if the original poster (OP) or others haven’t replied to keep the topic alive, they may no longer need help, or the issue has resolved.

There are many cases where users don’t respond to requests for more information, which makes it hard to troubleshoot. Additionally, keeping topics open indefinitely can lead to people reviving very old posts and going off-topic, which can clutter the forum.

To ensure that active and current issues get attention, topics are closed after they’ve been inactive for more than a month.

Regarding the issue you mentioned:

Here’s what I found

I didn’t experience any unresponsiveness or hanging in Brave. I was able to navigate through the site freely:

So, @pilkjaer, it seems this issue can’t be replicated, which suggests there might be something unique to your device causing the problem, or additional steps are needed to replicate the issue beyond just logging into the account.

The topic you linked to earlier didn’t follow the template and missed answering key questions, such as whether the site worked with Shields off.

It would be helpful if you could try some basic troubleshooting steps below. Please do each step separately and revert to your prior setup before moving on to the next step if the issue persists:

  1. Turn off Shields.
  2. Open in a private window.
  3. Create a new browser profile and test without adding extensions or changing settings.
  4. Test on Brave Beta and/or Brave Nightly.

I can reproduce. Looking into a fix.
