I’m new to the community and have a question because I’m unsure if I might be a potential victim of a scam and am hoping for other perspectives to help me figure out where I stand.
Last year, I signed up with the Crypto.com platform and deposited money, which an employee then traded. This resulted in a significant profit. I now let Crypto.com send this profit to my Brave wallet. However, support then wrote to me saying that they froze my account balance because they considered it a suspicious transaction. Therefore, I should now deposit 10 percent of the amount into the account from a verified KYC address to verify myself.
Now, I’m not sure if this is a scam - that is, whether this alleged profit is real and whether someone else is actually trying to withdraw the 10 percent of real money from my Brave wallet.
Do you have any experience with such cases? Is the request to deposit 10 percent of the amount in the account a normal procedure or unusual?
I would be very happy to receive feedback and opinions.
Grazie in anticipo.
Thanks for the reply, more specifically I created the Brave wallet myself through a trader, in the sense that when I had to memorize the 12 words and password I did it myself without my trader. So I was helped to open the wallet, currently only me can enter to view the contents. Does this make a difference? Or do you think it’s a scam?
If I move 0.6btc into my wallet will I not be able to unlock my wallet?
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the reply, no, no one shared it in that moment, and no one knows my recovery phrase. I’m sure.
Do you think this could be a proof of authenticity?
I have a lot of money in that wallet, I need to check the situation carefully before I stop using it, otherwise if the wallet is authentic I will lose all.
If @monitoring-inv.com is a scam, could it be that the wallet is authentic? And is only the one who asks me for 10% btc a scam?
To clarify, your Brave Wallet is not frozen. This is not possible. Self custody wallets, like Brave Wallet, are solely in the control of the person who creates it unless the recovery phrase is compromised. I can assure you this is a scam and should not be entertained.
I would like to ask you this just to satisfy my curiosity, if the wallet is locked (read only mode), how can the scammer take the 10% they are asking me?
