Hello there @SVanDee, could you please try deleting your cookies from the app to see if the issue is solved?

  1. In Brave, open the main menu, then SettingsPrivacy. Note: You can also select MenuHistoryClear browsing data
  2. Select Clear browsing data

Let me know if that works.

Didn’t appear to help. The menus on my IOS Brave app are organized a little differently than your instructions so I’m not sure I did the right thing. Here’s what I did.

  1. Selected Foxnews.com in the search bar
  2. Waited a few seconds. The “Allow ads on FOX News” message popped up
  3. Selected “…” in the Brave menu bar
  4. Selected “Settings”
  5. Selected “Brave Shields & Privacy”
  6. Scrolled down to the “Clear Private Data” block
  7. Turned all the switches = “Browsing History” through “Recent Search Data” on.
  8. Selected “Clear Data Now”
  9. Selected “Yes, Delete” in the pop-up window.
    The Settings pull-down disappeared.
The FoxNews web page blinked like it was refreshing.
“Allow ads on FOX News” popped up again.
    So then I:
  10. Closed the Brave app from the IOS desktop
  11. Restarted Brave
  12. Entered “foxnews.com” in the search bar
After a few seconds “Allow add on FOX News” popped up again.

Hi again @SVanDee could you please try opening your main profile in private or guest mode to see if the same pop up shows?

I don’t understand what a “profile” or “guest mode” means on IOS. Guess I need instructions.

@SVanDee while on Brave on your iOS device tap on new tab or the + symbol, there select new tab on guest mode, let me know if that works.

  1. Not sure what you mean by “new tab”. If you mean the title of a tab, tapping it doesn’t do anything.
  2. If I just tap “+” at the far right of the tab bar, it opens another tab labelled “New Tab” without giving me any options what kind of tab to open.
  3. If I hold the “+”, a pop-up appears. Here’s a screenshot:

If I tap either the “New Private Tab” or “New Tab” items on the pop-up, it just opens a new tab.
  4. Here’s what “Brave Features” looks like:

    Settings ->About says I’m running Brave 1.45.2 (22.11.29.0).

I can’t find any mention of “guest” anywhere.

This isn’t necessarily related to your issue but is my own curiosity…Any reason why you’re not updating your iOS? Current iOS is 16.2

I just tested on my iPhone and not seeing this happen, even with Shields on.

Yeah, you can’t create new profiles on iOS or Android. The advice @Kevin_cc mentioned wouldn’t be available. The only thing would be Private but that usually isn’t as helpful on these because we can’t run extensions either. Private Window or Guest Mode usually is to try to help rule out issues around extensions that might be causing problems, for the most part.

Let’s just try this.

  • Keep Shields on
  • Go to SettingsBrave Shields & PrivacyContent Filtering → enable toggle for Fanboy Annoyances List and uBlock Annoyances List
  • You may want to also make sure settings under Brave Shields & Privacy look something like below:

Problem fixed after configuring Brave Shields & Privacy as specified and then going to “Manage Web Site Data” and clicking “Remove All”. Never, ever would have found those myself. Thank you.

Can’t upgrade my iPad Mini 4 past ios 15.

Not that it matters, I guess, but I’m curious why the “Allow Ads” pop-up does NOT appear on Foxnews on my Mac desktop even with the Fanboy Annoyances List and uBlock Annoyances List toggles off?

Seems to have been a cookie you permitted at some point. It created conflict and when you went and removed site data, it cleared it out and things went back to normal.
