How to reproduce : write something in brave’s search bar, change tab, return to previous tab, add some text to search bar, press enter, only part of search prompt from before tab change will be passed to search engine (I use google).
Example : write “How to” in search bar, change tab, return to previous tab, add " make pie" to search prompt, press enter, only “How to” is passed to search engine.
Additional information : if it is done multiple times, tab is changed multiple times during writing search prompt, the part written after latest tab change will be missing from final search prompt.

I suggest a workaround:
When not certain about entering a complete:
- search criteria
- URL address
in the URL Address Field:
Use a Text Editor window for creating and editing. When you are satisfied with having established a complete character string . . . THEN copy that and paste it into the URL Address Field of your Internet browser tab/window.
I have the same issue. OP’s instructions for how to reproduce are spot on.
