Description of the issue:
Web sites can hint to the web browser to add a search engine. To block the hint, in uBlock Origin with Firefox, I added the following custom filter:
! Block suggestion to add site’s search engine to web browser.

Screenshot of the ad as it appears in Brave:
Not an ad. An issue with web sites trying to get the web browser to add their search engine to the web browser.
Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)
None of the block lists to which Brave subscribes has this filter.
Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
Well, I suppose the site would “function” to covertly add a search engine as the site requested. Depends on whether Brave already ignores this request, or if a user-defined filter is needed to prevent search engines getting added to Brave just by landing at such a web site.
If Brave already ignores or discards such suggestions (never adds a search engine at the behest of a web site) then a custom filter is unnecessary.
Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no)
Not about ads. About protecting Brave from adding search engines just because a web sites wants to.
What OS are you using when you see the ad?
Windows 10 Home x64 22H2
