I believe that it would improve the browsing experience if favicons were fetched / cached when a URL is bookmarked if there isn’t currently a cached favicon.
Rationale
Many people are “device nomads”, and rely on synchronized bookmarks to stay organized. When importing bookmarks the text is present, but there is no longer a visual queue (the favicon) to find bookmarked sites quickly.
The effects are:
- Increased cognitive load for the user
- Difficulty for those with visual impairment who rely on the icon shapes and colors
- An inconsistent user experience across devices.
Is there a technical hurdle that would make this difficult, or just a lack of interest in the problematic use case?
