Feature Suggestions – Built-in Media Player, Quick Device Sync, Smart Tools & Enhanced Privacy Mode

Hello Brave team and community,

First of all, thank you for the amazing work you’ve done so far. As a daily Brave user, I’d love to share a set of suggestions that could improve productivity, comfort, and the overall experience while staying true to Brave’s core values: speed, privacy, and simplicity.

Some ideas are inspired by features in browsers like Opera or Vivaldi, others are original and tailored to Brave’s identity.

:speaker_high_volume: 1. Built-in Media Player

Inspired by Opera’s player, but with Brave’s privacy-focused twist.

  • Control playback from a sidebar or pop-up UI (YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, etc.).
  • Background playback on mobile.
  • Queue management, playback speed control.
  • Keyboard and headset media key support.

:mobile_phone_with_arrow: 2. Quick Device Sync (Like My Flow in Opera)

Easy link, file, and note transfer between desktop and mobile.

  • One-click sending of links, text, images, and files between devices via Brave Sync.
  • Encrypted history with a clean timeline interface.
  • Drag and drop support, clipboard sync.
  • Notifications on all connected devices.

:brain: 3. Smart Focus Mode

A distraction-free mode for deep work or reading.

  • Auto-hide distracting elements (popups, suggested videos, comment sections).
  • Gentle usage reminders after set time intervals.
  • Calm reading themes and reader-friendly font modes.

:spiral_notepad: 4. Built-in Notes & Smart Clippings

A lightweight, integrated note tool with web page context.

  • Take notes attached to a specific page.
  • Save highlighted text snippets with source links.
  • Tag and organize notes in folders.
  • Local encryption, optional Brave Sync.

:locked_with_key: 5. Furtive+ Mode – Enhanced Private Browsing

A power-user upgrade to standard incognito mode.

  • User-agent randomization to avoid fingerprinting.
  • Auto-close tabs after X minutes of inactivity.
  • Zero caching, zero history, total session isolation.
  • “Open in Furtive Mode” option in right-click menu.

:high_voltage: 6. Command Palette / Quick Launcher

For keyboard-first, power-user navigation.

  • Accessed via Ctrl+K / Cmd+K.
  • Fast search across tabs, history, settings, commands.
  • Run quick actions: “close all tabs but this one”, “toggle dark mode”, etc.

:file_folder: 7. Smarter Download Manager

Make file handling cleaner and more powerful.

  • Auto-sort by type (PDFs, media, archives…).
  • File previews and rename options.
  • Resume interrupted downloads easily.
  • Integrated folder access and management tools.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_right: 8. Enhanced Search Suggestions

Make the address bar a true smart command center.

  • Multi-source search (e.g., custom engines, DDG bangs).
  • Quick previews of certain sources (Wikipedia, AI snippets).
  • User-customizable search shortcuts.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: 9. Contextual Sync Profiles

Separate your work, personal, and guest contexts easily.

  • Create distinct sync profiles with different data scopes.
  • Quickly switch between contexts.
  • Keep extensions, history, bookmarks cleanly separated.

:wrench: 10. Advanced Dev Mode

For technical users and developers.

  • Detachable network & JS console window.
  • Visual cookie/session/data inspection.
  • Performance insights and local API docs.

All of these features could be optional or modular, so users can choose whether they want a minimalist or power-user experience.

Thanks again for all your efforts — Brave is already unique, and these ideas could push it even further as a true productivity and privacy browser.

Brave already has a media player

I miss the crossover sharing between all platforms and devices for transfering files, webpages, text and more like you mentioned very professional in your quotes. Thank you! <3
