Facebook: half of the reels don't work whereas they work using Chrome

Hi

I’ve just tested the last version, and by luck I stumbled upon the same reel on my FB account, under Brave and Chrome.
Under Chrome, the reel played nicely, under Brave: a black area instead, where it’s written the following text:

That reel (which I was not expecting btw) played just fine for me. Can you please tell me what OS you’re using, as well as what Brave version?

Note that some reels appear immediately in a black rectangle, as I’ve activated FB’s dark mode, and this one hesitate:

Can you please try testing the Reels in a Private browsing window and tell me if they behave the same there?

Same problem. I suspect something related to the kind of video as some are playing correctly while others not.

@Phyl,
Can you please share the console logs with us so we can get an idea of what’s going on under the hood? To do this:

  1. Login to Facebook in Brave
  2. Open the dev tools console by going to Settings --> More tools —> Developers tools --> [Console]
  3. Click on a reel and when it fails take a screenshot of the Console window and share it with us here

Are you using malware guard extension? try disabling all extensions and refreshing facebook

Can you test in private window mode? no extensions

Is there any news? practically half of Facebook’s reels can’t be read, that’s slowly becoming unbearable…

Try testing in Brave Beta? If something was broken with reels, I wouldn’t expect only half would work. Or try testing on a different PC?

I don’t have the time to fully test it but some failing FB reels seem to work on the Beta. Good news :grin:

Too bad: I’ve just updated Brave but it doesn’t seem to have the correction for FB’s half vids (or more) that systematically fail whereas all other browsers work, included Brave’s Beta version.
