Extreme Lag and CPU usage

If you mean “Private Extension: Brave” task, then it’s just part of Brave. You can check it yourself - run browser without any extensions and there will be the same task.

@JimB1 I think @nqsfpd answered you :slight_smile:

My bad, I thought you were showing the Windows task manager, not the Brave one.

@macfanol , are you here to help or…?

Or…? Finish please…
I try to help whenever/wherever I could…

If I remember correctly, I can assume the problem is with the new “Wallet” feature starting the lag (and CPU usage) for me. As that is the only new thing in the version where I updated to. So 1.33.27 according to my brain, and my post.

So the “Wallet” feature that is newly-added is the cause, at least I believe so.

same problem here… extreme lag and cpu usage. it is most likely that no hardware or browser extensions are involved.

yes agreed this is not due to the extensions
windows 11 here
my other browsers like chrome and firefox works fine but brave and brave beta lags alot
if the issue still persists i need to find another browser then

can anyone suggest me a good browser that automatically blocks all the ads?

Just use uBlock extension in that matter. If you necessarily need to have inbuilt adblock then Opera is some option.

AdGuard installed system-wise. Even better than uBlock

Is the issue just related to the Brave Wallet then? I’m using Brave Beta 1.32.91 on Windows 11 and experiencing the same issue. CPU ramps up from 0 to 60% use when I open a private tab

Looks like so, also for me disabling the Wallet flag in brave://flags did nothing for me might be some internal code with the wallet I think. I’m tempted to just write my own Chromium-based browser. (If anyone’s willing to help me on that last part I have a discord Sir Obsidian#2640)

This has crossed my mind often.

I have recently (within the past few months) started experiencing high CPU usage with Brave. It seems like the only response I keep getting from Brave Support is “It’s not a Brave Browser issue,” when I can use the exact same setup in Chrome without having these issues. Even Edge has been more performant to the point that certain sites have to be opened in Edge because Brave chugs and ultimately causes my computer to chug.

I am using Windows 11 on a very expensive custom built computer. I don’t need a browser slowing my computer down. I have gotten many people to switch to Brave but I am very disappointed in the lack of responsibility from Brave Support and the unprofessional Moderators / Staff that like to chime in on threads.

tldr; Brave Support is becoming unprofessional, unreliable. Just like the software they are meant to be supporting. Attacking the user base isn’t a great way to address the issues at hand.

@okulo definitely worth trying. Please consult this page

I’m not sure I follow you? How would that sort the problem out?

Apart from anything, I use uBlock Origin (not uBlock) which doesn’t require a subscription.

Whilst I am here, I could mention that I have at least sorted the fan noise out by installing a 12cm USB powered fan with a switch suspended pointing down towards my Mac Mini which I have switched on all day. It is much quieter than the Mac Mini fan which seems to rarely fire up. Brave CPU use is still insane though (I was going to say ‘st up id’ but that word is forbidden on here, apparently!).
