Extensions Would Make Brave My Full-Time Browser

Here’s why this matters:

We need tools like AI summarizers & note-takers – Right now, I have to switch browsers just to use extensions that save me time (ex: summarizing articles or clipping notes).

Brave could do it better – A curated extension store would keep things secure while giving us useful features.

Power users will stay – Many of us love Brave’s privacy but end up using Firefox/Chrome just for extensions.

Any chance the team could explore this? Even limited, vetted extensions would make Brave unstoppable!

Hi! Just for your information, Brave is based on Chromium which is what “Google Chrome” uses. Due to this you are able to use extensions that are on https://chromewebstore.google.com/ with ease! I myself use multiple extensions daily in Brave and haven’t ran into any issue yet! Hope this helps, have a great day!

I want Brave to add a system for installing extensions on Android phones. Like Firefox nightly Mozilla add-ons.

Ah, that’s my fault. I should have identified the “Android Requests” tag! I myself haven’t felt the need to use addons when using brave on mobile however I’m sure this is a much wanted feature, especially when as you said competing browsers contain this functionality. I can see multiple extensions that would be helpful however I’m sure many extensions would break or require extensive reworking in order to work properly on mobile. I hope the team looks into this possibility!

That’s perfectly understandable! It’s easy to miss a tag, especially when you’re focused on the core idea.
You’ve hit on a really important point about mobile extensions. While it would be fantastic to have that functionality, the challenges you mentioned with compatibility and needing extensive reworks are definitely significant. It makes sense why Brave might be cautious about implementing it, given the potential for a fragmented user experience with broken extensions.
Hopefully, as you said, the team will indeed look into the possibility. Even if it’s a long-term goal, it’s clear there’s a strong user desire for it. Thanks for clarifying and for the thoughtful input!
