Extension installation error

Hello, the installation of extensions from the web store does not compete and shows an error, Please how to solve this problem. thanks in advance.


Please provide:

  • Brave Browser version numbers (go to: brave://version)
  • Computing device’s Operating System and version number
  • Web store that you are using
  • Type of Extension (pick one, to use as a test)
  • Have you previously had success adding an Extension to Brave Browser? (Yes or No)
  • Are you using a New Private Window with Tor? (Yes or No)
  • Are you using a VPN connection? (Yes or No)
  • Do you routinely back up your Brave-Browser folder?

Please provide screenshots that will help to show us what you see. Anything private, do not show. But, the error message - would be helpful.

Please describe thoroughly, the ‘does not complete’ event(s).

Try . . .

In a Brave Browser > New Window, go to: brave://settings/clearBrowserData

For tab Advanced:

  • Set: Time range:All time
  • Enable: Cookies and other site data (Enable - Signs you out of most sites)
  • Enable: Cached images and files
  • Enable: Hosted app data

Click on the ‘Clear data’ button.

(The ‘Clear data’ button also saves the selections.)

In a Brave Browser > New Window, go to: brave://settings/cookies

  • Enable: Block third-party cookies
  • Disable: Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows

In a Brave Browser > New Window, go to: brave://settings/security

  • Disable: Use secure DNS

In a Brave Browser > New Window, go to: brave://settings/shields

  • Disable: Auto-redirect AMP pages (AMP - Google’s Accelerated Mobile Page)
  • Disable: Prevent sites from fingerprinting me based on my language preferences
  • Block cookies (aka Cookie blocking): Only cross-site

Next, go to: brave://flags

  • Disable: Enable De-AMP - requires Relaunching Brave Browser

Re backups of the Brave-Browser folder . . .

Linux OS:

  • $HOME/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/

Mac OS:

  • /Users/username/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/

Windows OS:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\


What device and Brave version you have? A link of the extension is welcome.

Your Windows is old and outdated and your Brave needs updating as the current version is 1.41.100. My suggestion is to first upgrade your windows then update your Brave as your PC is way behind and missing a huge amount of security updates. I wouldn’t worry about extensions till these two issues are fixed.
