Error Message Preventing Update, Brave Version 1.61.116

I’m unable to update Brave to it’s latest version on Ubuntu Mate version 22.04. I keep getting invalid filename extension error messages.

Ignoring file ‘brave-browser-release.lis’ in directory ‘/etc/apt/sources.list.d/’ as it has an invalid filename extension

As a result I’m having a problem with the Messenger chat window covering up the screen in Marketplace which is really annoying. I have to open a Chromium browser for Marketplace to function correctly.

You’re seeing this error message after using sudo apt update?

Yes, I tried copying and pasting the output in Terminal but received the following error message:

An error occurred: Sorry, new users can only put 4 links in a post.

I reinstalled Brave using the Terminal command and restarted my computer. It shows the current version of Brave is now installed but I’m still experiencing the same issue on Marketplace. Terminal output after installation displayed 'ignoring file ‘brave-browser.lis’ in directory. I posted the issue on the Ubuntu Mate forum and I was told to rename the file name to ‘brave-browser-release.lis’ by adding the letter ‘t’ to the file name. Unfortunately I can’t find the file in order to rename it. I searched the web but no one gives any instructions where to find that file. I guess I just need to quit using Brave and install another browser on this laptop.

Could you share the output of running this command on the terminal?

ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave*
