Error connecting to my Uphold account

Briefly describe your issue:

Dumped Gemini and now trying to connect laptop browser to an existing Uphold account. [There are 2 devices already on the account: desktop and Android phone]

I keep getting a completely useless “Something went wrong” error [see pic below]. username and password are correct (password manager). I receive and enter the OTP codes sent by Uphold - but I have tried several times now to connect and continue to fail.

I closed/reopened the browser after resetting rewards (to disconnect Gemini), and even rebooted after twice failing to connect. Nothing has worked.

What Operating System and Brave version are you using? (Menu --> Help --> About Brave)

Windows 10 (up to date)
Version 1.78.102 Chromium: 136.0.7103.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Who is your verified custodian or self-custody?

Uphold

Are you in a supported region?

Yes

I though Uphold removed the 3 device restriction … but even with the restriction I should be able to do this.
Any ideas?

@gneuner try to reset Rewards. Most likely you are experiencing a minor bug that can happen to some people, especially if they had been connected before. I see you reset it the one time, but might need to try once more.

Also, let me ask, what country are you in?

Thanks, I will try that.

In the US. The Uphold account is pre-existing because I had an Android device that never could be connected to Gemini. I moved the desktop over successfully, but the laptop gave me grief.

kk. Just was asking as I recently saw people mention getting notices from Uphold about changes in Canada so wanted to be clear if that might have been a contributing factor.

Hopefully resetting will be all you need, but do make sure to reply back either way if you would.

Same problem here, already reset the data 5 times and the same thing continues to happen. Argentina here. Any solution?! Thanks!

No joy. I have tried resetting rewards several times now - closing / reopening the browser each time prior to trying to connect to Uphold.

I get the same “Something went wrong” error each time.

Phooey. Might just be a temporary issue, worth trying again tomorrow to see.

In the meanwhile, I’m going to tag in @Evan123 and @chriscat since there have been a decent amount of reports on issues. Hopefully they can check into it and resolve anything that might be happening on the back end.

And not sure how many others.

Attempted to connect to Uphold before (painfully) restoring settings, sync, extensions, etc.
No joy.

Same stupid error every time.

Will do. It’s after midnight here now.

Yeah, I’ve noticed other threads reporting same or similar problem.

Thanks for flagging! I’ve highlighted this internally and we’re looking into it.

Heyo,

I used to have this problem a lot, but then what I did do fix it after reporting it many times and still hasn’t been fixed is moved to a password manager.

After asking my friends who use them, I have been using Bitwardern for a while now.

I have used a password manager for years, and I noted using it in the original post. Mine is NOT a fumble-finger data entry problem.

Look at the number of threads (and their respondents) in this forum talking about this same problem. Everyone can’t be just mis-typing.

@gneuner btw, they posted a bit ago to say it should be resolved now.

This is kind of part of where it kind of sucks when people make a ton of topics on the same issue, as then people don’t get the updates as easily. Not sure about you, but I don’t feel like hunting down the 10-20+ duplicate topics and respond to all to let people know it’s resolved.

Kind of wish everyone just searched first and added onto one central topic instead, that way only one response is ever needed. -sigh-

(And no, that’s not aimed at you, just me venting really quick while also giving you the heads up and explaining why I’m not about to go reply to all the other topics)

It worked … THANK YOU !!!

It seems like a number of reports were posted within a relatively short time. After posting, it became clear that I wasn’t the first, but that I did get in fairly early.

Issue with search is you need to hit on the right keywords. I did search for “Uphold” and “connect” before posting and though I found mentions, I didn’t quickly find anything that seemed relevant to my problem.
[Unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish (or maybe Portuguese?) so I didn’t catch the thread you referenced.]

Anyway, I am now connected to Uphold. Thank you very much.
