Mais what the FRANCE BRAVE ?!

:smiling_imp:

This is not correct. You’re claiming without notifying Brave, but then you share the quote. In that it says “in consultation with…” This means it was discussed and then a decision was made. Also where many, such as yourself, make a big mistake is by wrongly saying that it was Uphold that made the decision. It was Brave that made the decision, which is why also Gemini has the same issue.

Not at all. They have answered loud and clear. Perhaps you had trouble knowing where to look, but we’ve been keeping people updated regularly. Not everyone has been happy with the answers, but that is a different story.

There is no statement contradicted by Uphold. Brave said that after discussion, they narrowed the ability to connect Brave to Uphold. It doesn’t say Uphold closed accounts or prevents you from doing business. It is only Brave connecting to them. If you made wrong assumptions and/or did not read that clearly, then that mistake is on you and others who did the same thing. Too many people like to argue and complain, often jumping to conclusions rather than being patient and asking for clarification first.

For those who have not been paying attention to announcements and topics, you can check my topic where I have provided all the information. You will need to use translation programs if you don’t understand English, but it’s all there.

You’re really not fair.

You admit that there are many of us, can’t you consider that we are not many idiots and that it is rather Brave who has not been clear ?!

Next, Brave made a statement on July 12, AFTER several people have complained that they could no longer verify their account with UpHold. The idiots that we are (…) have logically concluded that the problem did not come from Brave, because if it was on their own, they would have warned us beforehand.

And finally, in the announcement in question, it says “in consultation with”. I’m sorry, but that implies that Uphold is responsible, or at least involved in this problem. Brave goes on and say: “Uphold and Brave will continually work together to evaluate whether such countries can be supported again”. This sentence reinforces the idea that UpHold is involved!
And UpHold’s answer is: “Please let me clarify that we at UpHold do have support for France. It is Brave that recently updated their suppored regions”. With this statement, UpHold gives us the impression that they have to clarify things. And indeed it is necessary.

In short, Brave has clearly been clumsy in communicating about this problem, and instead of recognizing it and moving forward, you come to tell us that we are many to have misunderstood ? Come on …

=====

Allez…

They are involved. But the low level customer service you write to aren’t always aware. Brave had discussions with Gemini and Uphold regarding a LOT of things and consulted with their security teams and those in higher positions. The people you talk with in customer service for Gemini don’t know anything about all of that. They just go with what affects their site as a whole, not the idea of any existing partnerships might have put a hold on being able to connect.

That’s making a lot of assumptions. It’s very important to take text at face value and never to make more out of it than it says. If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen. Always ask questions, never assume.

No, not using that language and we’re not insulting anyone. We are saying people misunderstood things and/or argued about it. Some people made assumptions and didn’t ask questions or approach it as if everything was said exactly as it was meant. That doesn’t mean anyone is an idiot or anything of the sort. It just means they were impulsive and ended up at the wrong conclusion, which I and others have been trying to help clarify.

They are. It seems you’re responding immediately here and arguing without having looked at the topic I linked to you. Because if you went there, you’d see where I quoted Brave and even provided a YouTube link for you to be able to hear them say it: we’re going to really be working with those custodial partners to make sure things are in good shape so we can bring those back as soon as possible.

That’s correct, because Uphold isn’t preventing you from logging in or doing anything, are they? The answer provided to you is a general idea about your account and letting you know that Uphold is not restricting you. This doesn’t mean they didn’t have issues with people connected from Brave and that the company itself didn’t coordinate with Brave to prevent you from being able to link your Brave Rewards to Uphold.

Yeah, they have to clarify because you and others wrote in and asked them why they stopped supporting regions. They needed to clarify that you jumped to wrong conclusions and they are still supporting the region. It is only connections to Brave that have been affected.

And you writing in to ask them things is like asking the cashier at a McDonalds why they don’t sell the McRib year round. The employee might have heard rumors and all, but they aren’t the ones that set the policy or anything. Actually, that might not even be it. It would be like you going to Burger King and asking them why McDonalds isn’t serving the McRib. Because just like Brave and Uphold are two different companies, so too are McDonalds and Burger King.

Yep, because it happens. I’ve learned as I’ve watched Brave Community over the past few years that people don’t like to read. They jump in, ask questions, and argue. It doesn’t matter how clearly things are said or how many times it’s answered, people will create an account and post here without ever even trying to find the answer. And when their posts are replied to and the answer is given, they’ll go ask again or argue as if what they say will suddenly change things.

That arguing is like going to a store and finding out they are out of stock on an item you want. Then you go to the manager to argue and complain, expecting he’ll just conjure the item for you out of thin air.

So could you indicate how to recover your BAT when you live in France, or in any other country that is no longer supported?

What do you mean recover? There’s nothing to recover, you have it all. While connected to Uphold or Gemini, it sent. The moment it disconnected and you weren’t able to reconnect, payments go to your browser instead.

If you mean how to you withdraw it, you can’t. BAT stays in your browser or you tip Content Creators. Those are the only options you have until regions are added again or they implement features like Pay With BAT or something.

If you’re saying that you’re missing a payment, then the procedure is the same as usual, you submit a support ticket and someone from Brave will look into it and do the best they can to resolve it for you.

It was about the withdrawal. So you answered me. Thank you.

Je lisais d’ailleurs l’ annonce sur Gemini: NOTICE: New region restrictions on verifying Brave Rewards with Gemini

“Where applicable, users can still verify with Uphold in regions that are unsupported by Gemini.”

Leaving a quick response here then closing this thread as it’s getting out of hand. The situation is simple:

  1. We do work together with custodial providers when it comes to regional restrictions. These often change and we hope to be able to support as many regions as possible when we can.
  2. If you are in a region that does not support wallet verification at this time, you can still accrue BAT in your local/browser wallet, you just won’t be able to withdraw or exchange it at this time. If/when your region becomes available for wallet verification again, you may then do so and withdraw.
  3. We go through custodial providers who require KYC procedure because we are legally required to do so.

Thank you.
