Entries in Brave Settings vanish after closing the browser

**Description of the issue:

brave://settings/content/javascript > Set to: Sites can use Javascript
No sites are listed in the Don’t Allow Section
Needed to added [*.]googleapis.com in the Allow to use Javascript Section
It vanishes after Brave is closed, then re-opened again

**How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. I tried entering it as ‘[*.]googleapis.com’ and tried entering it as ‘googleapis.com’ and both times it was gone after closing Brave.

**Expected result:

In another post of mine Youtube videos freeze at 59 seconds, one of the support members recommended I try adding a number of URLs into the allow these sites to use Javascript, so that’s what I was trying to do. Unfortunately, the entries always vanish once brave is closed. So I can’t tell if the possible ‘fix’ will work. I’m sure I missing something simple, but I just can’t figure it out.

Also, which is the proper way to input the URLs? With or without the ‘[*.]’?

Thank you!

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgoogleapis.com

Scroll down to JavaScript and set that manually, to Allow

Close the window, and then exit / quit Brave Browser. Launch Brave Browser.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • brave://settings/content/javascript

In the search field, upper-right area of the window, enter googleapis.com ← that will narrow down the list of any googleapis entries - you should see the entry:

If you make entries directly at:

  • brave://settings/content/javascript

DO NOT enable Current Private session only:

Also, please check your On exit settings for clearing cache, cookies, etc., at:

  • brave://settings/clearBrowserData

Be sure that Site and Shields settings is DISABLED:

I have decided to use both, the

  • [*.]googleapis.com

entry method at

  • brave://settings/content/javascript

and the following method for entering a list of domains and hostnames:

In a Brave Browser New Window, one-at-a-time, going to:

brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Ffirebaseapp.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Ffirebasedatabase.app
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Ffirebaseio.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgmail.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgoogle.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgoogleapis.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgooglevideo.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgoogleusercontent.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fgstatic.com
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutube.com

Note that each domain or hostname is proceeded by:

  • brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2F

The combination of both methods, being more reliable, also as a double-check.
