Easy crash on 1.31.87

Description of the issue:
After updating to 1.31.87, my Bookmarks Bar shows a weird glowing red color around the names of folders which show in the Bar, and there’s no actual ‘folder’ icon, just the names. Clicking them does nothing, instead of actually opening the folder.

But then if I click the little ‘>>’ at the end of the Bookmarks Bar, Brave crashes immediately.

This is repeatable.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open a NTP or show the Bookmarks Bar
  2. Click the ‘>>’ at the end of the Bar
  3. Watch Brave crash-exit.

Expected result:
Don’t crash. And not sure if this weird glowy-button thing is normal, but I didn’t expect that either. Unsure if related.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Additional Information:
I can only do limited testing and provide limited data as this is on my work PC and I’m working. :sweat_smile: But I will test again at home later and see if the issue happens there as well.

Win10 1909.

It does not seem to happen on my Linux PC.

Doesn’t happen on the home PC.

Will fiddle with the work one some more and see if I can narrow it down. The only thing I can think of that I changed, immediately after the upgrade, was to enable the Tab Group saving flag so I’ll start by turning that off and see if it makes any difference.

OK, the issue occurs when I enable the ‘Tab Groups Save’ setting in Flags. Turning this back off makes the issue (both the glowing buttons, and the crash when clicking ‘>>’) go away.
