Drag & drop -- drag the url bar to another outside application so the other application gets the url

I want to drag the URL in the url bar and drop it onto another application.

Reproduce

highlight the text in the url bar ( the url) and drag it to another app that accepts text ‘drops’… or drag the icon ( lock icon ) just to the left of the url bar’s text. The target
application does not recognize that anything is being dropped.

Expected result:
I want to drag the url of the current page to another app so it receives the url
