Using brave with Ubuntu 22 and snap. After a snap update, I couldn’t download files using brave, the “save as” stopped working completely without showing any error message, nothing happens when clicked.
After reverting to a previous version using: snap revert brave
brave reverted to 1.78.97
The download started working again
I’m wondering if you’re encountering this same issue:

### Description
We are seeing Linux users report that they are unable to downlo… ad files (of any kind/from any source) in Brave when the `Ask where to save each file before downloading` option is enabled in `brave://settings/downoads`. If the option is toggled "off", downloads work in the browser as expected.
Users affected appear to be using Ubuntu, one of them installed via snap. This user was able to capture `stderr` logs:
```
[10487:10487:0411/084427.849507:ERROR:object_proxy.cc(589)] Failed to call method: org.freedesktop.Secret.Service.ReadAlias: object_path= /org/freedesktop/secrets: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: An AppArmor policy prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient; type=“method_call”, sender=“:1.131” (uid=1001 pid=10487 comm=“/snap/brave/496/opt/brave.com/brave/brave " label=“snap.brave.brave (enforce)”) interface=“org.freedesktop.Secret.Service” member=“ReadAlias” error name=”(unset)" requested_reply=“0” destination=“org.freedesktop.secrets” (uid=1001 pid=2276 comm="/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --login " label=“unconfined”)
I tried with both enabling/disabling “Ask where to save each file” option. It doesn’t work either way. It was just the version, reverting to Brave 1.78.97 fixed the issues.
So to sum up, the symptoms are the same as in the post you shared but in my case the issue was related to the Brave version
@slimbeji on our end we are not able to reproduce the issue. Can you tell me if you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?
Here are the steps I took to try and reproduce the problem you’re describing.
On Ubuntu 22.04:
Install Brave via snap: sudo snap install brave
Start Brave with a fresh profile: brave --user-data-dir=/home/francois/brave-temp-profile
Go to https://signal.org/download/# and click on Signal for Windows .
The download completed successfully.
Are you doing anything different?
Noting a possible work-around: try installing the native packages (instead of the Snap) following the instructions on https://brave.com/linux/
