When attempting to save or download any type of file, after going to the destination folder and clicking “save”, I get a window with the destination folder address and file name in quotation marks, and an error message that states “File not found. Check the file name and try again.” There seems to be no way around it. I can’t even print anymore.
I already have to reinstall the browser constantly, usually due to Windows and/or Google changes and updates, but that doesn’t fix this error any more. It sure seems like Google and/or Windows are attempting to disable this browser so it does not function properly.
I’m working off of a Dell Latitude and Windows 10 Pro.
It sounds like you’ve enabled “Controlled Folder Access” in Windows Security. Therefore, you will need to add Brave as an allowed application to allow it to write files to locations protected by Controlled Folder Access (I.E. certain %UserProfile% folders).
To do this:
1) Go to [Windows Security app > Virus & threat protection > Manage ransomware protection > Allow an app through controlled folder access > “Add an allowed app” button]
2) Add the below Brave executable as an allowed application.
THANK YOU so much!!! That worked. Why doesn’t that affect Chrome, even though I haven’t marked it as a safe app?
Any suggestions on the constant reinstall I have to do after Windows updates?
