Does Brave work with unsupported Mac operating systems installed with the Open Core Legacy Patcher?

I recently started seeing articles and YouTube videos about using Macs that can’t update to official OS versions, but can successfully run those OS’s via the Open Core Legacy Patcher.

I’d like to do this if it works well (many reports claim it does) since I’m otherwise stuck with Catalina (10.15.7) on a MacBook Pro that continues to work well most of the time.

Has anyone had experience with Brave running recent Mac OS’s (especially Sonoma and/or Sequoia) on unsupported Mac hardware using the Open Core Legacy Patcher?

I wouldn’t mess with the core matches. Please

Especially if it is the legacy platform.

@Phoenixrose… Why not?

OpenCore Legacy Patcher works well for running newer macOS versions on older Macs, including Sonoma and Sequoia. Brave should work fine on these versions, as it’s optimized for the latest macOS. Just keep in mind, patched macOS may cause occasional issues. Make sure to back up your data and double-check compatibility for your Mac model.

@AndrewRobert…Thanks, that’s been exactly my impression from viewing numerous YT videos. The caveats tend to be noted as acceptable trade-off. And most reviews I’ve seen have been remarkably positive.

@289wk…Thanks, though that’s a leap beyond being able to upgrade to a current OS (and a current v. of Brave).

Why do it if you have an old machine that’s running fine and that you can ‘upgrade’ by going the Open Core Legacy Patch route?

Of course, if that fails… then the time to go new (or used/refurbished) has probably arrived.
