Does brave store the my autofill passwords encrypted by default?

**Operating System and Brave Version

Fedora linux with v1.44.108 (Oct 6th, 2022)

Can you tell me how brave browser stores the password safe on my linux machine? Say if I launch the browser with enabled autofill passwords and sync feature, is there a file on my machine that I can open and read all those passwords? Or it’s an encrypted file that can’t be read directly?

Additional info:
This is related to my recent kdewallet trying to encrypt brave browser data each time I launch the browser. The solution found online was to launch brave browser with the option “–password-store=basic”. I need to know the risk of doing this.
