say if i were to want the ads feature but i use a different browser would i be able to just keep brave ads running from startup or do i have to have the browser open to receive ad notifications.

it start when you start your browser and using the browser but keep it in the background does not work on desktop/laptop
this feature only for mobile version of course after you enable the feature from the settings
