Hi everyone,
I’m encountering an issue with Brave Browser on both my PC and Mac. The problem relates to DNS resolution for subdomains within my local network.
Setup:
- I’m using a local DNS resolver (AdGuard Home).
- I have several subdomains configured, such as:
- a.example.local
- b.example.local
- c.example.local
All of these are intended to resolve to the same IP address, which is a reverse proxy.
However, I also have:
- d.example.localThis one should resolve to a different address.
The Issue:
Despite the correct DNS configuration (verified with nslookup and dig), Brave consistently resolves d.example.local to the same address as the reverse proxy.
Further investigation shows that Brave resolves any subdomain under example.local to the reverse proxy , even for subdomains that don’t have A records at all .
Steps Verified:
- DNS A records are correctly configured.
- Resolution works as expected in tools like nslookup and dig.
- The issue only appears in Brave Browser and affects multiple devices.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE:
the brave browser version is v1.79.123 in mac and windows
for os version:
mac os 15.3
windows 11 24h2
