Disqus web bugs tracking

many websites use Disqus as their provider for user comments. As far as I can tell Disqus uses web bugs to follow users around even if they are not logged in. I suppose it is similar to what Facebook is doing.

If you use Ghostery to block such web bugs Disqus stops working. However if I use Brave Disqus keeps working until I completely disable all scripts. Since Disqus is JS based this will stop it from working alltogether.

I’m not very experienced when it comes to things like web bugs and tracking. Can someone who has more knowledge about these issues verify whether or not Brave stops Disqus from tracking users when they are not logged in?

Thanks for your help!

I bump this topic a bit. The question remains unanswered. Maybe someone has an idea whether or not Brave stops Disqus from acting as a web bug when you’re not logged in.

Sorry for the delayed response. There has been some discussion on Disqus behavior on Brave. You can have a look here https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/issues/1373#issuecomment-214633010
