Discord logging out automatically

@ItzMeRajat

Could you please test whether the issue persists in a fresh user profile, as per developer’s request?

I will try that out rn.

I have been testing it out for a couple of minutes and it seems to be working fine.

I will continue to test it out till tomorrow and let you know if I face the issue at some point of time.

Ohh BTW just to be clear, I am on a Windows laptop. This post says its the same for MacOS from whoever created this post.

Added the Windows tag as Windows users are reporting the same issue as OP.

Make sure to update your browser to the latest version as we just got an update.

Folks, please disable brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage as a temporary solution recommended by developers while they’re debugging the issue. Let me know if the issue persists after disabling brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage.

Also, do you mind checking whether you’re having any issues in Brave Beta or Brave Nightly without disabling any flags? That will help developers find the issue easier and commit a fix.

Almost 5 hour so far after updating and disabling the “brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage” suggested, and discord havent logged me off yet. Normally it would break in less than 2 hours, so I think the solution is working good. Thanks for the help.

It would be of help to developers if you can check whether the issue is present in Brave Beta or Brave Nightly. All you have to do is install either from the links below and test Discord, don’t disable brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage.

Note: Installing Brave Beta or Brave Nightly doesn’t affect your current Brave installation in any way!

Seems like this issue has been fixed in latest 1.29.77, I don’t encounter any problem with discord anymore.

FYI I don’t disable the #brave-ephemeral-storage flag.

Yeah it has been fixed for me too @Rethanis

LMAO no.

Its caused by a setting in the browser so its not a hacking attempt

Ugh bad news, I got logged out again from discord. I noticed when it happened, I got more than 10 tabs opened. Not sure if it had anything to do with that, but I mention it here just in case.

I’ll try to disable #brave-ephemeral-storage now and see if the issue persists.

@onmyoji updated a Github comment of mine with your input. Unfortunately, it was expected that the issue would return when the flag is enabled.

For reference: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/17859#issuecomment-913512582.

Note that this issue received the highest possible priority, hopefully developers will be able to resolve the issue shortly.

Same here. Brave 1.29.77 on Windows 10. I also lose all my Discord settings, so maybe those are stored in local cookies. Brave Shields are down for Discord. Each time I go to Discord.com, I have to log in so it isn’t using my saved credentials perhaps. I started Brave, that did not fix it. I restarted Windows, that did not fix it.

I will clear cookies for Discord only and clear cache and see what happens.

EDIT: I set brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage to disabled, closed the tab with Discord, opened a new tab with Discord, and it logged in fine. No cookies or cache was cleared.

Yes, there are ongoing issues with brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage which developers are currently investigating. Disabling the flag is the temporary workaround until a fix is committed.

Looks like there is progress, fingers crossed!

Here we go:

I updated Brave browser to Brave v1.29.79 on Windows 10.

When I go to app.element.io, Element is asking me to verify this session. This has not happened before Brave v1.29.77. Brave is just a little glitchy on Element.

How to reproduce:

  1. Make an account on app.element.io.
  2. Close all Brave windows.
  3. Open Brave.
  4. Go to http://app.element.io
  5. Does Element ask you to verify the session?

Re: Discord

I updated to Brave v1.29.79, changed brave://flags/#brave-ephemeral-storage to Default and Brave works properly now on Discord. My Discord settings are no longer lost and I don’t have to log in every time to Discord.

Not an issue specific to Brave. I downloaded a portable Chromium version to test your case.
