Disable password manager

I’m using Bitwarden to manage passwords. In the password manager, it reads “Bitwarden Password Manager is controlling this setting.” Yet when I use a new password, both Bitwarden and Brave show a prompt to save the password. I’ve tried disabling and logging out of Bitwarden, but the issue persists.

I’ve also tried disabling the extension, disabling the “Offer to save passwords and passkeys” option in browser settings, and reinstalling Bitwarden.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install and log in to the Bitwarden extension
  2. Set Bitwarden as the default password manager in the browser settings.
  3. Go to a any other site and login.
    Only bitwarden should prompt to save the password but browser also sends a prompt.

Confirm “Offer to save passwords and passkeys” is toggled off.

If all goes well - once you’ve closed and re-opened Brave - revisit the same page.

You should see something like:

Bitwarden Password Manager is controlling this setting.
