Disable autoplay of video in iOS versions of Brave

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:
Some videos autoplay on iOS and I am unable to turn them off

How can this issue be reproduced?

1.Go to this URL: https://www.logos.com/product/232612/prophets-9-vols - for me that will autoplay a video with audio that isn’t on screen. You have to scroll down to see it and stop it.
2.Happens on iPhone and iPad.
3.

Expected result:
I don’t want it to autoplay, but cannot figure out how to disable it.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.77 (99)
Mobile Device details
iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.4.1
Additional Information:

It doesn’t happen all of the time, so there may be something at their site that triggers videos to play. If it doesn’t play, click on a different book in the recommended session until one does autoplay.

Looking online and searching the Brave Community for info, there is no precise solution for Brave Browser (iOS) users, that works for all websites.

In January 2025, I had thought the following should work:

Brave Browser Settings > FEATURES > Playlist >
Disable everything . . . test . . . and later, enable what you will.
You might also do an iOS Shutdown.

But such Brave Browser (IOS) Playlist controls and steps apparently do not work for all websites.

If you have a list of websites where that is the case, you might list the websites here, and perhaps Brave Support member @Mattches will pass that info along to Brave developers.
