Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

I would like to switch over to tempest as a default search engine. Desktop I have no issues switching over. Android has an issues recognizing tempest search. When I get it to show to add it, the browser keeps crashing.

How can this issue be reproduced?

1.Go into settings
2. enter the search engines area
3.Going into private/standard tab, it crashes when selecting tempest (if you can get it to show)

Brave selects brave search more often then not, if not outright crashing.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
version 1.75.175

chromium 133.0.6943.54

Mobile Device details
Pixel 8

Android 15 (with February 2025 update)

Additional Information:
As mentioned before, getting the Android version of Brave to take and hold me trying to add tempest as a search engine is a pain. Adding tempest to Windows desktop isn’t an issue. I did have an error where tempest was giving me a “not connected to internet” issue (on mobile and desktop) but I am watching someone on Twitch as I type this.

“SearchTempest is a classified ad search engine.”

JavaScript → Allowed, is required.

Possibly you need to set Trackers & Ads Blocking to one of:

  • Standard
  • Disabled

@289wk Android currently doesn’t support adding custom search engines manually. It still relies on an older system where a search engine might automatically appear in the list if it’s set up for discovery. I forget the exact term, but it works similarly to how it did on Desktop about 3 or 4 years ago.

It’s weird, but at this point Android is the only one without the option to add a search engine as shown in the links and screenshots you shared

Oh. Sorry. Thanks. (20 characters . . . thing)
